Introduce Yourself!

It's always fun to find a little about the people behind the characters, so I thought I'd start up a sort of a 'getting to know you' thread. I'll start:

The Basics:
I'm a 27 year old woman from Utah (and yes, I'm Mormon). My online name in most places is Avalikia.

Roleplaying:
I've been a roleplayer for over 10 years, both in forums and in MUCKs. If you don't know what the latter are, essentially they're like extremely old-school chat rooms specifically designed for roleplaying. I own one called Hidden Nirvana that's based on animals living in India. (At marupa.net port 2010 if you're curious and know what to do with that information. If you don't but want to, send me a PM and I can explain - it's always fun to try and explain MUCKing to someone new.) One of my good online buddies I met while MUCKing has an awesome Batman forum, where I play Poison Ivy and a couple of OCs.

I've owned quite a few forums before, though none in the past few years. Many of them were quite successful, though a few flopped - likely because they had extremely odd original themes that literally nobody else thought was a good idea. I had to close them all a couple of years ago because I was way too stressed out and busy at the time. I have high hopes for this one though, because the Warriors series is fairly popular and so are cats in general.

I roleplay from my own experience, but that doesn't mean that any of my characters are very much like me. I used to do a lot more characters that were similar to me, but though I think I'm an interesting enough person, that got boring because I like to use my characters who say and do things differently than I would and therefore have different things happen to them. Therefore I usually end up with characters that are only vaguely like me, but not so vaguely that I have nothing to base them off of. I also tend to favor heroic or villainous characters, but I'm trying to diversify on that a little.

Other Interesting Stuff About Me:

• I am a master of crochet.
  
• My aforementioned buddy who owns the Batman RPG said I should put that I'm: Stubborn in a good way, and have a good sense of humor. ;D
  
• I have Aspergers and a severe social anxiety disorder - neither of which effect me much online. But the latter is bad enough that I'm on disability because I can't work any normal job, and that's why I have so much time on my hands. The former is why I'm excessively interested in animals of all kinds.
  
• I got an A in my college-level genetics class so whenever I look at descriptions of the parents and kits in a Warrior's book I go "ACK!" repeatedly. I'll try and contain myself if anyone wants anything genetically unrealistic here.
  
• My favorite music is anything and everything electronica, but I also like classical, some pop, 80s rap, disco, alternative rock, and pretty much anything with an excessively talented singer or instrumentalist (that covers everything from crazy guitar solos to singers who can hit high notes without sounding terrible). But I enjoy most other music as well, though a few styles, like country or western music, are just noise to me.
  
• Politically, I'm a radical centrist. That means it's nearly impossible for me to choose who to vote for because all the candidates represent me equally well (by which I mean terribly). But that also means that you can make fun of pretty much any politician and I'll agree with you.

I'm twenty, female and live in Texas. Currently attending college, so I'll probably alternate between being on constantly and only checking every other day or so, depending on what deadline is coming up. Online I go by a variety of names, from Lee to Socks to Renray and a ton of others.

I think I've heard of MUCK's, but I'm not sure. 0.o I got my start roleplaying on neopets around eight or so years ago. I still get on neopets occasionally, but mostly just to find other people with the same interests. That's how I got to The Literate Alliance, and from there I got to here.

I used to be on a ton of pokemon roleplay forums, but most of them ended up inactive after a year or so. A few of them I still stop by to check on occasionally, but besides a few others doing the same thing they haven't started back up.

I've attempted to start up my own forums, but I'm no good at advertising (or, in general, handling the responsibility of an admin).

I've a friend with Aspergers. She roleplays alot too, but she doesn't do the same genre's as me. She way more into fandom and anime and the like. She's also far less likely to roleplay someone of the other gender than I am. I actually tend to roleplay male characters more often, for some reason.

I am very jealous of your ability to crochet. My mother tried to teach me when I was really little, but I didn't have the patience. Now that I want to learn, she doesn't! Haha.

Hm. Musically I like nearly anything that captures my attention. That excludes rap, most hip-hop, most country and a few other things. I really like music in languages other than english, despite not being able to understand it. Here, that means I'll spend time listening to the spanish stations on the radio a bunch. Normally in friend's cars (where i will set it to a spanish station when they leave the car for a bit. It's a bit of fun I have).

I myself do not have a car. I don't like driving at all, actually, and prefer to walk or take the bus route.
